Inspired by the Mississippi Congress of PTA, who birthplace originated from Crystal Springs, MS, a group of parents meet on February 22, 2014 at the Crystal Springs Visitors Center located near Lake Chautauqua to discuss issues that were affecting their children at Crystal Springs High School. They were seeking actions to help with those issues. On March 9, 2014, parents reconvened to form a movement to help engage and empower parents to get more involved in their children’s educational experiences and successes at school. From that meeting, the Crystal Springs High School PTSA was formed. On April 25, 2014 the CSHS PTSA received their charter to operate as a 501(c)3 organization in the State of Mississippi under the MS PTA. Our purpose is to promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, community, and place of worship; to raise the standard of home life; to bring into closer relation the home and the school that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth; and to develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as mental, social, and spiritual education.
